Butterfly Nebula
Acrylic Pour Painting🌌
Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby
Dancing Universe Abstract Art ~ Fluid Art Tutorial | Flow Art
In this Video Tutorial let’s create a Butterfly Nebula Acrylic Pour Painting. This time I’m going to create an abstract painting inspired by Butterfly Nebula. So, Butterfly Nebula or Bug Nebula – it’s a super beautiful, unique, enormous cloud of dust and gas in constellation Scorpius. And it has very complex and unique structure.
It’s a bipolar planetary nebula, and it has two primary lobes that have these rounded shapes and they do look like butterfly. I think this is so beautiful. In this acrylic pouring tutorial, I’m going to use my ring to try and create those rounded shapes, rounded the lobes in this nebula. And I will use a huge cookie cutter again to separate my positive space from negative space.

I keep exploring different shapes and variations in my “Dancing Universe” series. This acrylic pouring technique is super cool. I want to do a sort of multi-color dirty pour with dark deep cosmic colors for my base. I have some greenish-blue, black mixed with some red-violet, oriental violet and some magenta. It’s a lighter color but it dries very transparently. I don’t really need to layer them. I don’t mind them overmixing. I love those colors and I think they’re just perfectly what I need. Let’s see how it works, and without further ado let’s get started.
This pour painting is dry and finished with layer of epoxy resin. And if you take anything from this fluid art video tutorial – may be the fact that not everything always turns out as planned. I think that every time something goes off – it’s really just a perfect opportunity to challenge yourself to try out something new modifying your abstract painting. I think these acrylic pouring tips and tricks on how you can touch up your dry abstract painting also using fluid art techniques were helpful. I really love this Butterfly Nebula so-so much. I think this fluid painting is so pretty, turned out really cool. So it really makes me happy. I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
