Chain Pull Rainbow Butterfly

Abstract Painting 🦋

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

New Style STRING Pull Technique ~ Acrylic Pouring Art

Welcome to the new Chain Pull Rainbow Butterfly Abstract Painting video tutorial. Lately, I have been having a lot of fun with rainbow colors in my pour paintings. I did quite a few flows mostly with the blowout acrylic pouring technique, and they all spark so amazingly. This time I want to use rainbow colors for the chain pull Butterfly. I think it’s going to be a little challenging. I’m super excited to see if I’m able to make it work with rainbow colors.

And for this technique, my colors are mixed with Floetrol and water. So this is not my Dutch pour mixture, and the consistency is medium to medium thin. It’s thicker than Dutch pour consistency. And I find that a little thicker consistency works better for the Chain pull technique, it just gives more control to the overall technique.

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

1 part paint + 2.5 parts Floetrol

After mixing, I add water to get to the right consistency (medium-thin consistency for the butterfly string pulling technique)

I’m working on a black base today, and this is a super small 10 by 10 cradled wood panel primed with gesso, taped the sides. For the Chain pull technique, you want your base to be super thin, you definitely don’t want it to be very thick. So just trying to create a nice and even layer. As for my butterfly, for adding the colors, this time I’m not going to add them in lines, I’m going to add them in drops.

Let’s see how it turns out. So without further ado, let’s get started.

I’m so happy how this fluid painting turned out with all these vibrant colors really jumping on such a dark base. So I did some touch-ups, especially in the center part of this abstract artwork. I think it looks really neat now, and I love that it’s not just dotted but it has some shapes. I think it matches the overall energy and style of the pour painting much better. I really love how metallics worked for this butterfly. Even though I mostly use rainbow colors, the metallic brings so much more interest to the dry painting, especially, when you look at them against the light.

I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
