Welcome to Citrus Pour – Mixed Media Acrylic Painting for beginners. In this paint pouring art tutorial let’s try working with citrus color palette. I want to create something really bright and juicy and fun, so I want to work with a literally citrus color palette. I’ve got some yellows and oranges, and some greens for my negative space. And I want to try using my rings in a brand new way, instead of creating planets and just round forms, I want to go for actual citrus fruit forms.
I want to position my rings a little bit off the panel frame. I really love working on longer panels. So, this one is 8 by 24 inches and I want it to be vertical orientation, but it’s much easier to work horizontal.

I am in the mood for summer joy quite literally, so “Summer Joy” is the secret message for this fluid acrylics painting. And I want to work first on my fruits and then on the negative space. So I want to create a grapefruit, orange and lemon. And I don’t want to use just solid color, for example, solid orange for my orange fruit. I want it to be a compound out of multiple different colors. I think it will look a lot more interesting and will have more of the fluid painting energy. So let’s see how it turns out. So without further ado let’s get started.
Voila! This abstract fruit painting is all done and finished with a layer of epoxy resin. This Citrus pour painting just totally gives me life. It’s so happy, vibrant and refreshing. And I honestly can almost smell citrus just by looking at it. I love the movement, it’s so dynamic and so juicy. The multiple shades of green worked out perfectly. But what I love the most is the parts inside of each fruit. So I’m super happy that I used multiple colors. All these metallics and iridescent colors, they shine super awesomely against the light. And I like that there is a combination of the fluid art technique, this fluid wispy movement and the more realistic painting. So this is quite an interesting mixed media combo. I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
