Embellished Magenta Flow -

Mixed Media Abstract Art 💜

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial | Abstract Art Ideas | 3D Art

Welcome to the new Embellished Magenta Flow – Mixed Media Abstract Art video tutorial.I continue my mixed media painting series. In these tutorials I do acrylic pouring and then embellish acrylic paintings with different textured elements to create a more interesting design and a 3d effect in the composition. And this time I want to try a new embellishment idea for this pour painting.

I’m working on a 16 by 16 inches cradled wood panel. I will create a dancing flow painting on the very yummy burgundy, permanent magenta base. I want to blow out this base, then create a dancing flow on that base, and then I’m going to let the painting dry, and after that, I will realize my mixed media art idea. So let’s see how it turns out. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

Acrylic paint is mixed with water only to a fluid consistency. I add approximately 30-50% of water to my colors. There is no exact % or proportion because this ratio depends on initial paint viscosity, which significantly varies from brand to brand and even from color to color.

So first of all, let’s pour in those gorgeous colors! The first is permanent magenta, this color is so good. For the next one, I have mixed some red-violet, a bit of violet, and a bit of red, so this color is just a little darker. I think it’s nice to always have some lighter and darker parts to achieve more depth in the painting. I also have some blue colors mixed for this color palette idea, this is some lighter and darker blues mix. I feel like this color palette can use some contrast. Let’s see how this multicolor base turned out. And this time, I’m going to blow out this base instead of tilting it.

And here this mixed media acrylic painting is done and finished with a layer of epoxy resin. It totally has that exciting 3D effect because this flow is sort of dancing in and hugging this textured embellishment. The flow itself, especially, the top part is the brightest and definitely the most contrasting, so this is the focal point of the whole painting. This is what you see first once you look at the painting, but then as your eyes start traveling around, this is when the composition and the rest of the elements sort of unroll before your eyes because you start seeing more, and more, and more… So this painting is slowly telling you its story. I think this pour painting with 3D effect turned out really cool.

I hope you enjoyed this acrylic pouring tutorial and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
