IRIDESCENT Butterfly
Abstract Pour Painting
Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby
Modern and Unique ~ Acrylic Pouring for Beginners ~ Chain Pull
Welcome to a new IRIDESCENT Butterfly Abstract Pour Painting video tutorial. This time I want to try to create a yin and yang butterfly diptych. So, the idea here is that I want to do one half of the butterfly on a dark background with a light outline. And the other half of the butterfly is going to be on a white background with a dark outline. So, I am going to create opposites here that will work together in this yin and yan composition.
So, let’s see how that will work. For the acrylic pouring technique, I am going to do a chain pull. So, this pour painting is going to be a chain pull butterfly. For the colors of this fluid painting, I have some super nice colors this time. I’m going to use titanium white and the prussian blue as a base for light and dark canvas.

And for the colors of my butterfly, I want to have a lot of iridescent ones. I wanted the butterfly to really pop off the canvas. So, here I have the iridescent blue, red-blue, the iridescent red-blue. Here is also iridescent green-blue, iridescent gold and maybe I will use the violet. I haven’t quite decided yet, we’ll see how the flow goes. And for my butterfly, for what I visualize, I want to have really sharp and crisp lines that are created by chains. Let’s see how it works, and without further ado let’s get started.
So, there you have it! My Yin Yang butterfly is dry! I can’t tell you how much I’m happy about this abstract butterfly. So, somehow this pour painting turned out to be even more yin-yang than I initially planned. My Yin is a lot softer, the colors are much softer, and the overall movement is more soft and delicate. Whereas lines on this side are definitely super sharp, and the contrast is super bold. And yet although they kept the characteristics of yin and yang, at the same time, they are very symmetrical and balanced. I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
