Acrylic Pouring

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

Easy & Gorgeous Dutch Pour Technique 💙Just PAINT AND WATER

Hello my creative friends, let’s create Ocean Baroque Acrylic Pouring this time! In this video, I’m going to show you how to create a beautiful ocean-inspired painting with just acrylic paint and water. In this painting, I’m going to try combining oceany colors and flow with very bright cheerful dancing movement in the composition. And you know I love ocean inspiration!

All right, so today I’m working on this 14 by 18 cradled wood panel. It’s primed with gesso. It’s perfectly good to go. For this size of a panel, I would need approximately eight – eight and a half ounces of fluid paint.

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

Acrylic paint is mixed with water only to a fluid consistency. I add approximately 30-50% of water to my colors. There is no exact % or proportion because this ratio depends on initial paint viscosity, which significantly varies from brand to brand and even from color to color.

So I’m going to be working on the phthalo blue and titanium white bases. And I have approximately three and a half ounces of each color. So that makes seven altogether. And the rest will be the one – one and a half ounces is gonna be for other colors.

Little tip: I never pour out the entire amount of base color at the beginning, because as I go I might see that I need a little more on the corners, or add a little bit around my flow to help my colors flow more easily. So I always like to keep a little bit in the cup.

Let’s see how it works. And without further ado let’s get started.

What a GORGEOUS dance of the Waves with acrylic pouring technique – Ocean Baroque? Done with paint and water only. I love how these iridescent colors POP when dry combined with contrasting yet soft details! Painting is finished with a layer of epoxy resin. This blowing or dutch pour technique requires a very fluid consistency, which allows creating the most beautiful lacing, cells, and color transition with the most simple recipe. I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! 💙 Happy creating!
