Welcome to a new RED and GOLD with Black and White Acrylic Pouring video tutorial. This time it’s going to be something new. I want to try to go for the split color base with the open cup acrylic pouring technique. Recently I have done many color split pours mostly with the funnel technique and I achieved a lot of beautiful effects.
And what I love about split color base is that it allows you to manipulate with a negative space in a very unique way. It also helps you to achieve balance with the composition and, of course, a lot of contrast. Especially, if you’re using a contrasting colors for pour painting base like black and white or black and let’s say pink, or white and purple, red and blue and so on.

So, like I said, this time I want to try combining this split color with the traveling open cup. I’m very excited to share the process with you, and for the base I want to go for black and white. To try this out I’m going to work on small 10 by 10 cradled wood panel. And my colors are going to go in the open cup. I’m going to get started by adding my black and white. And I want my black to be sort of on the bottom third maybe slightly above the third and the white is going to go on top of this abstract painting. Let’s see how it works, and without further ado let’s get started.
I really love how this fluid painting turned out. You know that normally I love playing with my composition a lot more. I like swiping, blowing and do all kinds of things till I’m happy with all the movement. But this time I just don’t feel like doing it, I feel like this pour painting is perfect. I love all this negative space, it creates a great contrast with the busyness that’s inside. Black, white, red and gold – this combo is so good. It’s so striking, so contrasting and just beautiful. I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
