WILD Lava Flow

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

Mix of Techniques - Acrylic Pouring Ideas - Fluid Abstract Art

WILD Lava Flow Fluid Art – is a new acrylic pouring video! This time I want to do a dirty pour painting with a bright multi-color red color palette, and then add some golden lines and designs to it. Dirty pour technique, in case you’re not familiar with it, it’s a technique where you add colors in the cup and then you just pour it out on a canvas.

So, unlike a ring pour technique where you would just keep sort of a steady flow creating rings in one spot, with dirty pour you just go all over the place, there is no particular pattern on how to do it. Just let the hand be the guide of the painting anyways.

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

Acrylic paint is mixed with water only to a fluid consistency. I add approximately 30-50% of water to my colors. There is no exact % or proportion because this ratio depends on initial paint viscosity, which significantly varies from brand to brand and even from color to color.

For my color palette as I said I want to go for bright reds and not so long ago I did this fluid painting called the “Rebirth of the Phoenix”. It was really vivid red with the golden Phoenix flow, and it was so beautiful! This time I want to go for a similar color palette. I have a bunch of reds here. I’ll introduce you as I go, and all of my colors today are mixed with water only. I want to try doing the dirty pour with just paint and water mixture, very fluid consistency.

And now – done talking, let’s get to pouring. Let’s go.

This acrylic pouring is so different from what I have been doing lately and it’s awesome! And the thing when you’re working with reds, magentas, and other colors in this part of the color spectrum, is that most of them when you use acrylic paint they’re very transparent. So when the paint dries you see more layers under layers. And this is why I used one dark color because it actually will help me to emphasize the transparency of this color.

Dancing golden flames – that’s what I see in this fluid painting. This looks like very hot lava. It’s a flow of lava with some parts that are already cooler and some parts that are just melting hot. I’m totally getting energy from this pour painting. I really love it!

I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
